The Charles F. Blanchard Collection

Charles F. BlanchardThe Charles F. Blanchard Collection is a collection of historical documents, memorabilia, writings, books, and other materials that pertain to the legal heritage of North Carolina.  The collection is named for Raleigh attorney Charles F. Blanchard who, in 1991, was the first elected president of the Society and continues to be a stalwart supporter of the Society and our projects.  Charlie has been a successful attorney in the Raleigh area since 1950.  He is a founding member of the North Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers, governor of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America and a member of Duke University School of Law School Council. He is a recent past president of the International Society of Barristers and the Braxton Craven Inns of Court and has held office in numerous other legal fraternities. Mr. Blanchard has also been governor of the Association.  He has tutored many young budding attorneys, who are now successful in their own right as well as leaders in the bar, community and business. The collection is housed in the Justice Building and the materials are displayed when appropriate.  A partial list of the materials in the collection may be found below.

If you have items, you think might be of interest to the Society, we would be happy to talk with you about a potential donation. Please contact us for more information.
